Nice, but looks like we are in New Mexico or Arizona. I prefer the existing logo.

  2. Jessica says:

This Logo is not inviting. the colors are very Dull, – they should be vibrant and bright. The logo has a 70 style to it , it look ver y old and not interesting- you can barley tell it is a flower. I do not like it at all. I like the Garland star better.____ Also the Tagline Does not make since, and is not catching.

as a semi-longtime resident and long time graphic designer, i have to say….got to be kidding…this is too close to the bp logo, which everyone in the world has viewed, judged, has a negative opinion of, can't erase from their minds, etc etc
wouldn't want garland associated or identified with, much less BRANDED with, if the city brains have any idea what is being presented to them…..would like to know what agency my tax dollars are going to

  4. J.J. Smith says:

Garland, you're being RIPPED OFF! I own an ad agency and know costs. This simple logotype and slogan could have been created for $100 on the HP logomaker site, or one of many others on the Internet. You could also pay pennies and do your research on PollDaddy.com, just one of many online polling companies. Penny (above) is right, too, it's too much like the BP logo. Hope you really are listening to people, Mayor!

It's digusting isn't it!! I say why couldn't they have informed people somehow?? No wonder they got what they did! 33 phone interviews!!! And these clowns are running our city! I think us citizens should demand a city of Garland audit!!

  5. J.J. Smith says:

Research was based upon only 33 phone interviews? You've got to be kidding!

I didn't hear anything about this. You guys need to figure out a way to inform citizens of what is going on. You need to send out a newsletter, or something. It's like you do everything behind closed doors and we only hear after the fact. You web site stinks. It is not user friendly. You can't find anything. Why can't you work on that, because whoever you have working on your website needs to go back to school and learn some new things. It's a dinosaur!!!! Also, if us citizens had been informed about you wanting a new logo, you could have had that done for free by asking citizens to submit their logos and made a contest out of it, which would have inspired citizens to become involved. Come on guys, I sure hope you can do better than this. You need some new fresh ideas! Badly I might add. Some young and inspiring minds. Quit wasting our money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Jerry Flook says:

Both the logo and the slogan are pitiful! It is amazing that so much time and tax-payer money has been spent on this total failure. The stylized firewheel flower, if one can even tell what it is, says NOTHING about the character of Garland except that it has a big shopping center named for a prairie flower. A logo needs to say something about Garland's uniqueness and its assets as a place to live and work, including some indication of its history. GARLAND DOES HAVE A HISTORY, YOU KNOW! The flower actually points out the mistake Garland now is making hitching its wagon to the Firewheel Center. Forty years from now it may be another crumbling Big Town, Lochwood, or Valley View Center. The logo should tell us something more enduring about our unique and hospitable city.

The slogan does not even make sense. Did some consultant put a few random words in a bag and draw out three?

The suggestion that citizens enter proposals for logo and slogan in a contest is an excellent idea. BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD. THE THING WE HAVE GOTTEN WILL BE AN EMBARRASSMENT TO GARLAND IF IT IS ADOPTED.

  8. Ron Leslie says:

"Texas Made Here" ? What on earth are you people smoking . . . that funny looking flower?

  9. Jennifer says:

First and foremost why do you have people working for you that are graphic designers if you dont use them for there very well educated mind? Its obvious the people you did use have a 1st grade education. The logo is not interesting nor is it appealing to the eye. Secondly, the tagline is just plan stupid, it makes no sense and is unimagnitive. Its time to use those you hired for this job!!

  10. Brandon says:

The 3 people that like this logo and tagline are the ones you wasted taxpayer money on to create it!!!

  11. John Morrow says:

Heynow,____ Why in the world would the Mayor of (Garland) not Firewheel along with the city council decide to waste tons and tons of money on a new Logo???!!! Are we not broke and under very tight budgets??? I personally voted for Ron Jones along with Barbara Chick and have greatly admired all of the wonderful things that they both have done over the many years going back to when Ron Jones was a City Of Garland employee. Very soon no one will ever remember anything but that Ron Jones as mayor of Garland Texas along with the current city council as the ones who wasted thousands upon thousands dollars to change our City of Garland logo to some rediculas flower logo to be put on all of our city vehicles, uniforms, letter heads

  12. John Morrow says:

, not to mention the newly painted water tower etc.etc. I guess that this will be the Ron Jones legacy that all will be laughing about for many years to come until someone else comes along and is forced to spend even more money that we do not have to change it back

  13. John Morrow says:

For years our Police department has been known by many other neighboring citys as very tough rugged strict and no nonsence attitudes ready to jump into action without any hesitation at all. Well guess what people are going to be thinking now that all of the police cars will be having a rediculas flower on all of the police cars along with our tough firemen and the rest of the city vehicles too??? Are we all supposed to be going back into the sixties and becoming Flower children or something???!!!

  14. John Morrow says:

I am truly embarrased and ashamed that our city council has gone ahead and done this as I have seen the banners flying on the light poles by Walmart just this past Friday after which I then found out that they had voted on this just the Tuesday before, which also seems very fishy that those were made so quickly or that they were possibly already sent in to be made before the vote was even done???

  15. John Morrow says:

If you really wanted to change the logo then maybe you should put a green leaf where the shooting star is on the letter A for the future of Garland to be known for going green with all of the wonderful recycling that the City of Garland has been recently trying to impliment so hard instead of wasting 80,000 dollars on some firm to give us this rediculas flower logo. But even then maybe just leaving the Logo alone for now would make much more sence until we actually have the money for such things, ya think???!!!

  16. Carrell Hinton says:

What is "Texas Made Here" supposed to mean?
I agree with the other comments that the "flower" (or whatever it is) looks terrible. I think it looks like an ink spot. It's hard to imagine it on the doors of our police cars and fire trucks.

  17. Jackson,Jakob, says:

I prefer the existing logo. this one is just a sore eye. Please donot pick this for your city, even I who dose not live here took time to say wrong logo.
The suggestion that citizens enter proposals for logo and slogan in a contest is an excellent idea. I truly like this ideal….If you are going to change….

    • Sherry says:

I was told that it looked like a gas lid or something to do with Gas not a flower.
but is is'mt verty pretty and dose nothing for the eye. keep old logo or as suggested citizens enter proposals for logo and slogan in a contest is an excellent idea.

  18. Grace says:

This logo does not represent my city or the good folk that live here. The design needs to show the strength and diversity of our industries and our people. This logo design does neither.
